From 15 Weeks to Postnatal Recovery
The Gentle Birth Method supports mothers through pregnancy, birth preparation and postnatal recovery with a calm, holistic and personalised approach.
Every mother is different, so the pathway is always adapted to your body, pregnancy, birth plans and individual needs.
The outline below gives a general guide to how we usually support mothers from around 15 weeks of pregnancy through to the postnatal period.

Foundation, assessment and early pregnancy support
From around 15 weeks, mothers can begin gentle GBM pregnancy support. At this stage, the focus is on understanding your body, supporting comfort, and beginning the foundations for a calm and healthy pregnancy.

· An initial consultation or assessment with Dr Gowri or a GBM Practitioner

This stage is about gently supporting the mother’s system and creating a strong foundation for the months ahead.

Building strength, rhythm and body awareness
As pregnancy develops, many mothers begin to feel the physical changes more clearly. GBM treatments at this stage can help support the back, pelvis, digestion, sleep and general energy.

From around 28 weeks, the focus begins to shift more clearly towards birth preparation. This is a good time to begin hypnobirthing, visualisation and deeper body preparation.

Deepening birth preparation
From 32 weeks onwards, many mothers benefit from more regular support. The body is preparing for birth, and GBM focuses on pelvic balance, tissue preparation, relaxation and confidence.

Final birth preparation
From 36 weeks, GBM preparation becomes more focused. This is when mothers often come for a 36-week appointment with Dr Gowri, which may include pelvic assessment, tissue preparation guidance and birth preparation support.

The Gentle Birth Method encourages mothers to work with the body, rather than against it. Birth preparation focuses on relaxation, breathing, visualisation, body confidence and reducing unnecessary fear.

Recovery, nourishment and settling
After birth, the mother needs rest, warmth, nourishment and support. GBM postnatal care focuses on helping the body recover, supporting feeding, calming the nervous system and helping the mother feel held.

Rebuilding, feeding and emotional support
The first 6 weeks are a key time for recovery. GBM can support mothers with postnatal healing, feeding, energy, emotional balance and body recovery.

· A 3-visit or 5-visit postnatal support plan, where suitable
